Freezing Point

A timeline-shifting puzzle game about a chronomancer lost between two moments in time.

Synopsis

Uncle John is a chronomancer — a scientist who has spent his life bending the laws of time. On an expedition into the frozen ruins beneath the ice, he activates an ancient device that shatters his grip on the present. Now he is trapped, flickering between two versions of the same world: the frozen ruins and the ancient past

The exit is there. It always has been. You just have to find which version of time it belongs to.

Features

  • Dual-timeline navigation — swap between the Present and the Past at will, each with a distinct environment layout
  • Interactive puzzle objects — levers, pressure plates, movable vases, doors, and laser traps that behave differently across timelines
  • Dark, atmospheric pixel art — frozen caverns, void-black corridors, and a lone warm glow navigating through the cold

How to Play

  • WASD / Arrow Keys — Move
  • Q — Swap Timeline (switch between Present and Past)
  • E — Interact (levers, doors, etc.)
  • O — Recall (teleport back to your last respawn point)
  • U — Rewind (reset all movable objects to their original positions)

Themes Selected

  • Time is Broken (Primary) — Uncle John's device has shattered the timeline, forcing him to navigate two broken versions of the same world
  • Frozen — The world is a frozen ruin; cold, still, and suspended in time
  • Lost — Uncle John is trapped between eras with no clear way out
  • In the Dark — Literally dark, starfield-scattered corridors; and figuratively, the player must discover the solution themselves

Notes from Developers

This is our very first game jam — three of us: a programmer, an artist, and a game designer, all working part-time across 10 days.

We don't have a professional game development background. What we do have is a mechanic we fell in love with (Effect and Cause from Titanfall 2 lives rent-free in our heads) and the stubbornness to ship something.

Freezing Point was built in Godot 4.6.2. Some rough edges exist — we know. But every puzzle was designed and iterated with genuine care, and we're proud of what we made in the time we had.

If you play it, we'd love to hear what you think. Comments mean the world to a first-time team. Thank you for giving our game a chance.  🙏
